Hello, I'm Patrick Murray, the founder of Sunburnt Games. I'm an indie developer from Australia, and I've spent blood, sweat and tears building mobile games in Unity (mostly tears, let’s be honest here).
I grew up on Aussie sports. Rugby Union, Rugby League, Formula 1, Cricket. What always frustrated me about sports games on phones was how heavy they'd become. Huge downloads, fiddly menus, energy timers, and a store that pops up before you've had a single go. Not to mention how shocking the AI is.
So I started making the opposite. Small, pixel-art 2D games that find the fun at the center of a sport and serve it up fast. My first title, Cricket Mayhem, puts you at the crease with one-touch batting, four game modes with future plans to keep expanding. Now I'm building Rugby Mayhem, a fast online multiplayer rugby game. Further down the road there is no reason to stop at Rugby.
The name is rooted in my goals, where I grew up, my favourite place (the beach), and a bit of an Australian flair. Sunburnt is that relaxed, summer arvo at the beach, with every goal complete and nowhere to be.
I also believe free games can be fair. Ads should be optional where possible. If you love the game, you can support it, if you don't want to, you still get the whole experience.
Thanks for stopping by. If you want to help shape Rugby Mayhem, join the beta. I read every bit of feedback.
